honeymoon in new orleans

okay so i just got back from my honeymoon and i had the BEST time ever. we decided to go to new orleans because we couldn't get passports in time to go out of the country and i've wanted to visit new orleans for over ten years now. new orleans is such a rich historical place and it was so beautiful and vibrant and it was everything i ever dreamed of. i learned so much cool stuff about the history of new orleans (specifically the importance of black people in the area and their influences on the culture of new orleans). i got to go on multiple tours of the french quarter and i explored it with my husband on our own for like 5 days. every street block held so much life and so many stories and i was just in complete awe the whole time. i got to eat amazing authentic southern/louisiana food and visit so many iconic spots like cafe du monde (the original maker of the beignet in new orleans), vampire cafe, and i even saw one of the filming sites from the originals (one of my fav shows)! i got so many cute touristy little trinkets and souveniers which made me sooo happy. it was also just such a romantic spot, the french quarter was filled with people with different instruments (largely brass) playing beautiful music. i met so many wonderful people who i'll always remember, like the little blonde woman about my moms age with the thick southern accent who worked the "smallest bar in the french quarter" which was quite literally a hole in the wall who gave us like 2 free samples of alcohol each and free shots of fireball when she heard we were on our honeymoon. she was so amazing and gave us such good advice for while we were there and kept talking about how much she "love[s] love" and it was just so wonderful. i love meeting fun people like that when i go places the world needs more people who just talk to anyone they see and are so kind the way she was. anyway i'm rambling now but i had such an amazing time in new orleans and i'm already counting down the days until i go back. my heart belongs in new orleans
